Solar park isle of Ameland

Location

Isle of Ameland

Customer

Municipality of Ameland

With over 24,000 solar panels, the Dutch island of Ameland is home to the largest solar park in the Netherlands. The combined power output of these panels, is no less than 6 megawatt.

For this project, Alfen teamed up with grid operator Liander to connect all these panels to the electricity grid and create a connection with a main switching station.

Each year, these solar panels harvest approximately 5.6 million kilowatt hours of sustainable energy, equal to the annual energy needs of 1,500 households. During the off-season of this popular tourist island, these solar panels generate enough energy to fulfil the needs of the entire island, which makes Ameland fully self-sufficient during these periods.
